Officer Changes/Transitions

To be discussed at the next officers’ meeting.  There will be one for each officer, but Ken will pick his a few months down the line.

Volunteer Coordinator – Need someone that is outgoing, organized and willing to coordinate volunteers for Horizon, dealing with new people, answering questions etc.  If interested contact Onyieh.

2006 Fall Festival
To be held in October.  There will be a beer tasting, a DJ, a Samhain ritual on the descent of Inanna, and a live auction of services donated by members (such as housecleaning, tax preparation, tarot reading, sewing – any skill a member has that s/he is willing to donate for auction to raise funds).  Volunteer meetings will start in August.

Mass classes – getting involved in Mass

Some of the class notes are available on the website, more to be made available as they are provided to Shellay.

Initiations

There will be a III* on August 5^th, and a I* on September 3^rd.

Secretary updates

• Newsletter – still not enough submissions.  However, Autumn is putting together a Thelemic crossword puzzle.  Shellay will send in some public domain Frater Achad poetry.  Autumn will try to put together an article on the symbolism of the Deacon role in Mass.  Autumn will ping Janice and Osiris for submissions, and Autumn and Courtney will come up with a description of the newsletter for soliciting advertisements.

24/7 space – marbles!

• New Officer role – Temple secretary – in charge of keys, calendar, scheduling, cleaning crews, stocking items (kitchen, bathroom, cleaning supplies), repair, paying rent and dealing with landlord.  This will NOT be the Body Master.
• Dues – can overlap with Pledges.  Idea:  raise dues, but make them sliding scale?
• Pledges – will only be instated when we are a year away from our goal
• Fundraisers – cushion account, not counted on to cover rent, to cover special items, upgrades
  Possible idea for a fundraiser – PCC scrip.  Minimum $500 purchase, we purchase at 90 cents on the dollar, and sell at face value.  Usable like cash at PCC’s.
  Safeway gives away free food to NPO’s – perhaps make that arrangement for Samhain?  Need to do early in month, before their budget for that is exceeded.
  Have a pancake breakfast/brunch or spaghetti feed for fundraising.
• Pledges due mid month – before rent is due.  Members would fill out and sign a pledge form.
• Marble – each marble is $10 – 120 for $1,200 estimate of rent/insurance/utilities.  Each person takes the amount of marbles that they could safely say they could pledge each month on a regular basis – see what is left???
  Of the six people who were at this meeting, 17 marbles were pulled out – if only 6 people can do $170 a month collectively, how much more could the whole community do?  We’ll repeat the marble demonstration at the next HCM
