Growing the Community – Outreach – Advertising

  • Need volunteers to pass these out to other cafes/stores/bars/clubs etc. – Melissa passed out a stack of 50 qtr bills to attendees to put around town.
• Business Cards – Shellay
• Liber Oz half bills with O.T.O. info – Onyieh to do
• Book marks for EoC – Autumn to design – Doug E. to print out
• Meet once a month at a cafe to discuss O.T.O. and Thelema – need a volunteer  - stated that Lead could just organize and does not need to be at every meeting – no volunteer.
• All of our events, esp. Mass – Greeter, being more welcoming to new folk
• Social events – need a volunteer to plan? – no volunteer to plan out any officical social events – rather idea for impromptu gathering to shoot pool, dance etc.
• Camping – volunteer to coordinate – Doug E. volunteered to research
• Monthly classes – basic and advanced classes on diverse subjects
• Flyer for monthly classes at EoC
• Advertising to other bodies – on yahoo group for SML, Vortex and Star of I.S.I.S contact and website info.
• Better advertisement – nicer flyers, web pages etc.
• OLOTEAS outreach – Dana passed out qtr bills – July Information booth – Onyieh, Ashley and Shellay, need other volunteers 7/23/05 – Ken, Courtney and Jon volunteered to take turns at the information booth.  Jon, Courtney and Melissa will present a workshop on the Gnostic Mass and perform the Gnostic Mass.
• O would like Advertising Lead??? – No one volunteered
• Other ideas for outreach advertisement????
  • Melissa did and O.T.O. presentation at the last round of Bunny Slopes classes and some did attend a Mass or two.   M stated this happens 2x a year so the OTO can be presented at each class.
  • Pass out flyers at the information booth (OLOTEAS) with ALL events listed would be the best.  Also see BotLs, cups and T-shirts.
  • Forum to post informal events – O told attendees about livejournal community and emailed sea-oto with info.
  • Phone idea – for event announcements only or to leave messages as well.  Jon to research cost.  Will still need a volunteer to maintain and follow through with idea.
  • Better Living Guild – having dinner (different than café monthly meeting for new comers)  Would be in central location (Cap Hill and U District) – problem is RSVP for restaurants – no volunteer to lead this suggestion up.
  • Jon is including thanks to Horizon on DVD and CD.
  • Jon will head up small classes based on the Red Flame before each QAMT Mass.
    • Class will be about one saint or collect
    • Only 30 mins starting at 2pm, then half hour social time
    • Onyieh to purchase 1 to 2 copies of Red Flame for newcomers to use during classes.
    • 1^st class in August – rotation of who is giving a class
    • Advertisement and info of classes will go into the Mass announcements
  • Movie night – Scott can check out Ancient Egypt DVDs from UW.

2005 Events

·         Monthly classes – Sept and Dec not yet scheduled.  Upcoming classes include mediation, Intro to Qabalah, Georgian Tradition, Proper Hebrew pronunciation (LBPR, Tree of Life, Aleph Bet) – variety counts!

  • Yule Mass lands on 12/25 this year, will have normal potluck and Autumn will head a gift exchange.

• Melissa’s new title is E.G.C. Secretary
• 7/01/2005 – all Children must be baptized according to E.G.C. policy
• 01/01/2006 – QAMT masses – one of the principle officers will be filled by an Ordained Clergy Member.  Three principle officers need to be ordained, either the Priest, Priestess or Deacon.
• Gnostic Mass Coordinators – with 24 masses a year M might need a volunteer a few times a  year to facilitate mass with setup and teardown along with building checklist.
• National E.G.C. Secretary has started making Certificates for all E.G.C. ceremonies
• Ordained Clergy to fill out report and submit to National E.G.C. Secretary for each E.G.C. ceremony they perform.  Horizon Oasis to still keep local records.
• Mass teams to follow Mass Team Guidelines – Melissa will post on website and sent via email
• Novitiate definition and sponsoring Bishop – Novitiate is someone who plans to be Ordained Deacon, Priest or Priestess AND who has contacted a Bishop to supervise them in this endeavor.  Melissa has sent out emails to all Mass participants to ask them if they consider themselves a Novitiate and if so who is their supervising Bishop.
• Baptisms/Confirmations – scheduled in advance, only those in ceremony will commune.  12/12/2005 – new E.G.C. policy that only those in the baptism or confirmation will commune, all others observe.  Plan is the schedule two times per year, more if needed for baptisms and confirmations.

 Grand Lodge Policy

• Bodymaster must report any KNOWN arrests to the Executive

 Local Membership

• Membership cards – to keep track of local members – forms will be filled out by those wishing to be affiliated as a member of Horizon.  Shellay will make the form and also issue out Membership Cards.
