In 2011, Horizon began renting a new dedicated temple space in Seattle. Our member's willingness to step forward and support Horizon Oasis with their dues has made this possible. Thank you all so much. For the address please visit the contact page.

Our temple is paid for through our local dues and donations, especially mass donations. If you've been meaning to start paying dues, but haven't gotten around to it yet, now is the time! For more information please visit our dues page.

Using the Temple

The temple is available without cost for any and all Horizon-related events, including public performances of the Gnostic Mass, initiations, classes, workshops, public rituals, plays, community meetings and socials, fundraisers, etc. Members are encouraged to contribute to the community by organizing events.

Members of upcoming mass and initiation teams can rehearse at the temple.

Other O.T.O. bodies may ask to use the temple at no cost for O.T.O. events, these requests will be honored whenever possible.

Additionally, dues current members of Horizon can use the temple free of charge; personal use of the temple has to be scheduled on the calendar by sending email to horizon@seattle-oto.org.

Scheduling

All events, including free rentals and practices, must be scheduled; events are confirmed when they appear on the online calendar. This keeps us from accidentally double booking the temple. Questions and requests should be sent to horizon@seattle-oto.org.

All officers and deputies have keys to the temple. Members who need to drop things off, pick things up etc don’t need to reserve the temple but should make certain the temple is not reserved. Never walk in on an event. Members who are doing temple upgrades, fixing or making temple equipment, cleaning etc should reserve time for this, to avoid conflicts.

Guidelines for Using the Temple

A list of “Guidelines for Using the Temple” is posted in the temple, failure to follow these guidelines will mean you can’t reserve the temple in the future.

• The high altar is only to be used for mass or other EGC rituals.
• Books need to be checked out; please do not remove books without checking them out.
• Please leave the heaters set the way you found them.
• Leave the temple in good condition – clean, with everything put away.
• Lock up when you leave.
• Turn the lights completely off.
• There are three fire extinguishers and two first aid kits at the temple. Make sure you know where these are.
• O.T.O. policies apply to all events at Horizon temple, “official” or otherwise, including renters and member's private use. No illegal activity of any kind including drugs or underage drinking.
• No firearms on the premises unless you are a police officer. Carry permits are NOT an exception to this policy.

Lending Library

Horizon has a lending library located in our temple. Oasis members may borrow books from the circulating collection, and can ask to have books from the non-circulating collection brought out for them to read at the temple.
